A dmarcian alternative priced per domain, with pre-send testing in the same account

dmarcian is a DMARC management platform from dmarcian, Inc., founded in 2012 by one of the authors of the DMARC specification, and sold alongside paid deployment and support services. Its plans are tiers capped by active domains and monthly message volume: Basic is $24/mo, or $19.99/mo billed yearly, for up to 2 domains and 100,000 messages a month. Unspam reads DMARC aggregate reports on its Custom plan at $6 per domain per month, first domain included, groups the traffic into named sending sources and tells you what stands between each domain and p=reject. Both read aggregate reports and name senders; dmarcian adds forensic reports, alerting, TLS reports and human services, while Unspam adds pre-send spam, inbox placement and preview testing in the same account.

Which one fits you?

choose Unspam if
  • You want to pay per domain rather than by message volume: $6 per domain per month, the first domain included, up to 500 domains in one account
  • You need more than 2 domains without a jump in tier. On dmarcian, a third active domain moves you from Basic at $24/mo to Plus at $240/mo
  • You want a per-domain readiness check that lists what still blocks p=quarantine or p=reject, without buying a deployment service
  • You also test campaigns before they send: spam score, seed-list inbox placement across 7 mailbox providers and client previews in the same account as your DMARC reports
choose dmarcian if
  • You need forensic (RUF) report processing, TLS-RPT reporting, or alerts on DNS record changes, policy changes and volume spikes by email, Slack, Teams or webhook. Unspam reads aggregate reports only and has no alerts
  • You want people to take you to p=reject: dmarcian sells a dedicated Deployment Manager and tiered support contracts, where Unspam is self-serve
  • You run 2 low-volume domains for non-business use. dmarcian's free Personal plan covers that, and you can try any paid plan for 30 days with no card

Why teams move from dmarcian to Unspam.

01

Per-domain pricing instead of tier jumps

dmarcian prices by tier: Basic covers 2 active domains and 100,000 messages a month for $24/mo, and a third domain means Plus at $240/mo. Unspam charges $6 per domain per month with the first domain included, and the price does not depend on message volume, so 3 domains cost $12/mo and 8 domains cost $42/mo.

02

A readiness check instead of a deployment contract

dmarcian's route to p=reject runs through its remediation guidance and a paid Deployment Manager. Unspam checks each domain against p=quarantine and p=reject and lists what stands in the way: too few days of data, compliance below threshold, a failing source or unreviewed traffic. Opening a source explains why its mail fails and how to fix it.

03

DMARC reports and pre-send tests in one account

dmarcian does not test messages before they send. Unspam runs spam score tests, seed-list inbox placement across Gmail, Outlook, Yahoo, Zoho, ProtonMail, AOL and GMX, client previews and an AI attention heatmap, in the same account that reads your DMARC reports. The API and MCP server come with the Custom plan, where dmarcian keeps its API on Enterprise.

What each one costs.

Prices are from dmarcian's pricing page, in USD with parity for CAD and EUR, taxes excluded. Plans are tiers capped by active domains and monthly message volume, not priced per domain; inactive domains are unlimited on every plan, and volume overages are priced on request. A 30-day trial needs no credit card, and deployment and support services are quoted separately.

Unspam vs dmarcian, answered.

Is Unspam a replacement for dmarcian?
For aggregate reporting, yes. Unspam's DMARC monitoring reads aggregate (RUA) reports, groups senders into named sources marked compliant, partially failing, failing or unauthorized, and checks whether each domain is ready for p=quarantine or p=reject. It does not process forensic (RUF) reports, TLS reports or send alerts, and it sells no deployment services. If you rely on those, keep dmarcian.
What does dmarcian do that Unspam doesn't?
Forensic report processing from Basic up, TLS-RPT reporting, and Alert Central, which warns by email, Slack, Teams or webhook about DNS record changes, policy changes, volume spikes and parked domains that start sending. It also sells human services: a Deployment Manager who takes you to p=reject, and Standard, Professional and Premium support tiers. Neither product hosts your SPF record: dmarcian says it has chosen not to offer SPF flattening.
How do the prices compare?
dmarcian sells tiers; Unspam charges per domain. For 2 domains, Unspam is $6/mo (the first domain is included), and dmarcian Basic is $24/mo, or $19.99/mo billed yearly, capped at 100,000 messages a month. For 8 domains, Unspam is $42/mo ($6 x 7) and dmarcian Plus is $240/mo, or $199/mo billed yearly. Unspam's Custom plan has a $5 monthly minimum and takes 15% off annual billing; see pricing.
How do I switch from dmarcian, or run both?
Add Unspam's reporting address to the rua tag of your existing DMARC record; Unspam can add it for you without changing your policy, and it verifies the record automatically. A rua tag can list two addresses, so you can run both while you compare. Some receivers honor only the first two addresses, so keep Unspam's among them. First reports usually arrive 24 to 48 hours after verification.

Add your first domain free and read your first reports in about two days.
